Ingredients
This recipe calls for 4 green plaintains, canola oil, and salt
Preparation
Preheat oil in a deep bowl
Peel and cut plaintains into thick 1-inch pieces
Place plaintain pieces in the oil until golden-yellow, then take out of oil
Smash plaintains using a tostonera, or the bottom of an oiled glass
Place plaintain pieces back in the oil for 2-3 minutes, avoiding browning
Season with salt and add other condiments on the side if you'd like, but it's not needed!
