Tostones Recipe

Tostones are smashed and fried green plantains, sometimes fried longer for a crispier treat! It can be paired with a simple yet impactful sauce, mayo-ketchup, to enjoy the snack further!

Ingredients

This recipe calls for 4 green plaintains, canola oil, and salt

Preparation

  • Preheat oil in a deep bowl
  • Peel and cut plaintains into thick 1-inch pieces
  • Place plaintain pieces in the oil until golden-yellow, then take out of oil
  • Smash plaintains using a tostonera, or the bottom of an oiled glass
  • Place plaintain pieces back in the oil for 2-3 minutes, avoiding browning
  • Season with salt and add other condiments on the side if you'd like, but it's not needed!
  • These are the easiest yet most delightful snack you'll ever be able to make!
